WEEK 52 – DAY 2

STANDING IN HIS GRACE

I, Peter, with the help of Silas, whom I consider a trustworthy, faith-filled brother, have written you this short letter so that I might encourage you and personally testify that this is the true, dependable grace of God. Stand fast in this grace. 1 Peter 5:12 (TPT)

Peter’s first letter is filled with examples of those held up by the grace of God. He concludes by reminding the reader to stand fast in this true grace. Standing may sound passive, but watching my mother trying to regain her balance and ability to stand reminded me that remaining on your feet can be challenging. Remaining on your feet spiritually when winds of persecution or trial are trying to knock you down is a dramatic test of faith. (Susie)

I no longer have physical feet to stand on. However, I stand spiritually by placing my confidence and trust in Jesus, my Solid Rock and my Good Shepherd. I stand on the fact that Jesus loves me unconditionally and purchased my redemption by His death on the cross (Romans 5:8). I live in this costly gift that was given freely to me by God’s grace (Romans 6:23). I stand fast by the grace of God, and I shall not be moved (Psalm 62:6). (Susan)

Father, thank you for using Peter to encourage us to continue in our covenant relationship with You, realizing that Your grace will enable us to stand (Romans 14:4).
