WEEK 52 – DAY 1

HE CARES FOR YOU

Casting the whole of your care – all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all – on Him; for He cares for you affectionately, and cares about you watchfully. 1 Peter 5:7 (AMP)

From July of 2009 until she went to be with Jesus on April 30, 2014, I took care of my mother after she fell and suffered a subdural hematoma resulting in a craniotomy. In English, that means the neurosurgeon opened up the side of her scull to remove a clot between the lining of her brain and the brain. At first, she needed help getting in and out of bed, dressing, etc.; and eventually, I tended all her needs as she could no longer leave her bed. However, this was not a burden to me because of the love and care between us. Mom trusted me to do what was best for her all day and night, but even from her wheelchair would ask me if I needed anything before she went to bed.  Little did I know that the Lord used my time with Mom to prepare me to be Susan’s “tater” (short for facilitator). Susan moved in with me on September 15, 2015, the day she was released from the hospital after having both legs amputated above the knee. Susan has cerebral palsy and needs assistance eating, bathing, dressing, etc. I tend to all her needs, but I know that she also cares deeply for me. She tells me when my breathing indicates I need to use an inhaler. She reminds me to be careful, to wear a jacket, to take an umbrella. We have become sisters of the heart by the grace of God knitting our souls together.

If I cared this much about Mom and now Susan, how much more must a perfect, loving God care for us? He is concerned about our every need. We need not worry, but simply trust the Lord to take care of us. We can throw those cares on Him, and He’ll handle everything.

Father, thank You for Your complete and perfect care. Help us to remember that we need not worry because You are in control, You love us, and You care for us.
