WEEK 50 – DAY 3
INTO HIS MARVELOUS LIGHT
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light; Which in time past were not a people but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. 1 Peter 2:9-10
When I would get up at my mother’s house, it was still dark. The hallway leading from my room to the kitchen had very little light, and I felt disoriented until I turned the corner into the den where the nightlight shone. Life apart from Christ is like stumbling down a darkened hallway. You attempt to feel your way through looking for glimpses of light here and there to help you. When you become one of God’s people, Christ’s illumines the way. You find a flashlight in His word that you can take with you everywhere you go (Psalm 119:105). You never have to grope aimlessly in the dark again, for “God is light; in him there is no darkness at all” (1John 1:5a). The warmth of His love lights your days like flowers in the springtime brighten the field.
Are you still feeling your way through life, unable to see the best way to go? Trust in Jesus, and He will illuminate the journey for you because He is the Light of the World. John 8:12, “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
Father, thank you for inviting us out of the darkness and into Your marvelous light. May we be like the moon and reflect the light of the Son so that others might see Him and join us in the warmth of Your love.
