WEEK 26 – DAY 5

GOD SPARED NO EXPENSE

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:31-32

For His divine power has bestowed on us [absolutely] everything necessary for [a dynamic spiritual] life and godliness, through true and personal knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 2 Peter 1:3 (AMP)

In the previous verses, Paul has described the facts that we were chosen by God to receive salvation and as a result of that gift, He works everything in our lives for our ultimate good and His glory. Therefore, since God is working for us in this way, no one can stand against us to prevent us from succeeding in what God has called us to do. No one can thwart God’s good plans for us (Jeremiah 29:11). Paul develops this thought further by stating that God did not spare even His only begotten Son, Jesus, but sacrificed Him for us while we were still His enemies (Romans 5:8). If He was willing to do that for us while we were still sinners, then God will certainly give us, who are now His beloved children, everything we need to live abundant lives and bring glory to His name as we journey on the earth. This does not mean the Lord will give us everything we want. Sometimes children ask for foolish gifts, and as parents we do not honor that request. In the same way, our Father in Heaven will only give us gifts that will truly benefit us, not something to satisfy a temporary whim (James 1:17). God will certainly give us everything we need to fulfill the purpose for which He saved us, to bring glory and honor to Him, to build His Kingdom. In the words of Stephen Curtis Chapman, God has called us to a “Great Adventure”— “Saddle up your horses, we’ve got a trail to blaze!”

Father, thank You for the gift of salvation purchased with the blood of Jesus. Thank You that in addition to that, You give us everything else necessary to live Christ-like lives. Help us blaze a trail for others to follow us to You!
