WEEK 24 – DAY 2
NOT ASHAMED OF EXPLOSIVE FAITH
For I am not the least bit embarrassed about the gospel. I won’t shy away from it, because it is God’s power to save every person who believes: first the Jew, and then the non-Jew. You see, in the good news, God’s restorative justice is revealed. And as we will see, it begins with and ends in faith. As the Scripture declares, “By faith the just will obtain life.” Romans 1:16-17 (VOICE)
We are not called to be covert Christians. Even in countries where Christians are violently persecuted for their faith in Jesus, they find ways to share the Gospel, even risking their lives to do so. What is our excuse for remaining silent about Jesus? Do we believe His message is powerful or not? The power God has given the Gospel message is explosive! We have dynamite news of saving grace. Yes, our lives are a testimony to the saving power of Jesus, but we must courageously share the reason for the change people see in us by using our words. What are we afraid of? Embarrassment? Ridicule? Being “unfriended” on Facebook? Being hassled at work or school? Jesus DIED to give us the greatest gift imaginable: salvation from the wrath of God, salvation from our propensity to choose sin, salvation from Hell, and salvation that gives us a home in Heaven. We cannot earn a right relationship with God, nor can we maintain that relationship on our own. It is totally by placing our faith in Jesus—trusting and relying on His finished work on the cross. The dynamite, miraculous power of God’s Holy Spirit inside those of us who believe should explode from us in sharing this Good News with others. Susan is startled by my explosive sneezes, and I make sure to cover them lest I spread germs. May our testimonies of Jesus’s love explode all around us, spreading the Gospel of Jesus far and wide!
Father, help us to be bold in our witness for Jesus. Give us the words when we do not know exactly what to say. May Your grace be reflected in our changed lives and shared from our lips.
