WEEK 20 – DAY 3
WALK IN THE LIGHT
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. John 3:17-19
If you grew up in church as I did, you probably memorized John 3:16 and maybe John 3:17. We all love to remember that Jesus died to save all those who believe and trust in Him. However, we do not like to hear about the other possibility, those who refuse to believe are condemned. Light is a marvelous thing if you do not mind being seen. However, if you are not looking your best, you may want to avoid the spotlight. God shines His light upon us, and there is nowhere to run. His light permeates to our very souls revealing all the things we do not anyone to see in us, especially God! The only way we can have nothing to hide from God is to surrender our lives to Jesus and allow His Holy Spirit to change us from the inside out. Jesus is a spotlight shining down on us. Do you feel a need to run and hide in the shadows, or can you confidently stand in the Light because you have been saved by God’s grace? “If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin” (1 John 1:6-7).
Father, instill the confidence in us that we are free to walk in the light because we have been cleansed by the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. May the light You have placed in us shine out as a testimony to Your love and grace.
