THANK GOD FOR HIS OMNIPRESENCE: ALWAYS AVAILABLE
We give thanks to You, O God; we give thanks, for Your Name is near. The people declare Your wondrous works.
Psalm 75:1
75:1 Your name is near. God’s name represents His presence. The history of God’s supernatural interventions on behalf of His people demonstrated that God was personally immanent. But OT saints did not have the fullness from permanent, personal indwelling of the Holy Spirit (cf. John 14:1, 16, 17; 1 Cor. 3:16; 6:19).
MacArthur Study Bible
One of the attributes of God we are most thankful for is His omnipresence (always being available). Jesus was called Immanuel which means “God with us.” When Jesus ascended back to Heaven, He promised a Comforter. That Comforter is the Holy Spirit who is not only with us but IN US! We are NEVER without Him. The Father is only a prayer away, an ongoing two-way conversation. Jesus continually intercedes for us. In the person of the Holy Spirit, the Lord walks with us, guides us, teaches us, and comforts us. The Holy Spirit represents the “alwaysness” of God with His children. In those times when we feel forsaken by friends, family, or maybe even God, we must remind ourselves that Jesus said, “And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20b). When the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples in an upper room at Pentecost, they were filled with God’s presence (Acts 2). We as believers are also filled with the Holy Spirit, but sometimes we fail to tap into His power that is available to us 24/7, 365 or 366 in leap years. How do we access the Spirit’s power? Remember that two-way conversation? We pray and we listen for and seek God’s answer by reading His word.
Do you ever feel alone? Abandoned? Rejected? If you have entrusted your life to Jesus Christ and received His gift of salvation, you will never be alone again. You may FEEL alone at times, but your feelings are deceiving you. Ask the Lord to help you remember and experience His omnipresence. Bring your needs to the Lord with THANKSGIVING, and He will give you peace (Philippians 4:6-7).
Father, constantly remind us of Your omnipresence. Help us to remind each other that “Your name is near” as the Psalmist wrote under Your inspiration.
