SHOUT FOR JOY!!!

Those who live far away fear Your wonders; You make the dawn and sunset shout for joyH7442 . . . The pastures of the wilderness overflow; the hills are robed with joyH1524. The pastures are clothed with flocks, and the valleys are decked with grain. They shout in triumphH7321; indeed, they sing.

Psalm 65:8, 12-13

H7321 רוּעַ rûwaʻ, a primitive root; to mar (especially by breaking); figuratively, to split the ears (with sound), i.e. shout (for alarm or joy):—blow an alarm, cry (alarm, aloud, out), destroy, make a joyful noise, smart, shout (for joy), sound an alarm, triumph.

Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible

The dawn and the sunset are the Lord’s visual shout of joy to His children to gaze upon and experience a glimpse of His glory. The meadows are wearing sheep as clothing, and the fields are ripe with grain—God’s provision for all our daily needs. The land shouts for joy in its service to God. If we present ourselves silent and still before the Lord, we may be able to hear the wind whispering through the grain. The bleating of the sheep is music to their Creator’s ears.  If I do not exalt God with every cell of my being, this psalm declares how His creation is ready, willing, and capable to take my place. In what ways can you lift God up by using the gifts and talents He has given you? Finding what the Lord has made you skilled and passionate about and surrendering that back to Him is one way of offering up praise to Him. Be assured God will bless what you have sacrificed back to Him. Another way we praise Him is purposing to wake up with gratitude as the direction of our life’s compass. We need to be grateful that Hs is upholding us with His righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10). The Apostle Paul taught that even the earth, not just the people of the earth, is in prison, so to speak (Romans 8:18-25). Even the earth is in its preliminary state, groaning and waiting to be renewed. All evidence of the curse and sin will be burned away, and the New Jerusalem be brought down to the new earth in all its perfection. Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband (Revelation 21:1-2).

The dawn and sunset shout for joy even while the earth groans waiting to be completely delivered from the effects of humanity’s sin. With certain conviction, we can shout for joy even now in this fallen world, knowing that our impending future will be living in the place our forever Bridegroom has prepared for us as the bride of Christ.

Father, may our shouts for joy be almost earsplitting as we praise You for the wonders You have created, Your constant care, and our future in the home prepared for us by Jesus.
