MIDNIGHT THANKSGIVING

At midnight I rise to give You thanks for Your righteous judgments. I am a friend to all who fear You, and to those who keep Your precepts. The earth is filled with Your loving devotion, O LORD; teach me Your statutes.

MIDNIGHT THANKSGIVING

People are in the bars partying at midnight,

offering their praise for the pleasures of this world.

But the psalmist roused himself from sleep at midnight

to offer praise and thanksgiving to his Lord.

He praised the Lord at the darkest hour

Instead of waiting for morning’s light.

We need to thank the Lord in our darkest times

While we are still in the midst of a fight.

By faith, we can express thanksgiving

Because our battles are God’s, not our own.

We can thank Him in advance for victory

Because we know He is still on the throne.

Jesus is the light of the world,

And His word is a flashlight to guide us.

We need never fear the dark days

With His Holy Spirit inside us.

We can thank the Lord at midnight

As well as the brightness of midday,

For when we call on the name of our Lord,

He will always answer when we pray.
