FAITH IS THE VICTORY

May He give you the desires of your heart and make all your plans succeed. May we shout for joyH7442 at your victory and raise a banner in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your petitions.

Psalm 20:4-5

20:1 you. The king. The congregation calls upon the Lord to bless the king as he sets out for war. The blessings in these verses are also properly applied to New Testament believers in their battle of faith.

Reformation Study Bible

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome, because everyone born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith. Who then overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

1 John 5:3-5

The people of Israel prayed for their king to be protected and victorious in battle. They promised to rejoice over the victory they were confident their God would provide. Those of us who have trusted Jesus for salvation—victory—are confident that He will prevail in this world. Today’s circumstances may appear to be bleak and discouraging—Covid-19 pandemic, Russia waging war against Ukraine, moral decline of America. However, our joy is not dependent upon circumstances—current, past, or future.  Our joy is determined by dependance upon the Lord Jesus Christ’s fulfillment of His Father’s assignment: 1) He died the most horrendous and humiliating death known at that time to pay the price for our sin, 2)  He rose from the tomb to conquer death and the grave to be the firstfruits of the resurrection, 3) He is now seated at the right hand of the Father, the place of authority, and intercedes for His inheritance–those who have trusted in Him—constantly, 4) He sent   the Holy Spirit to live in us as a down payment assuring us of our final victory to be with Him in paradise forever. We rejoice in His victory and have joy knowing we will be victorious because of Jesus. In fact, as far as God is concerned, we are already there! “But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in our trespasses. It is by grace you have been saved! And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus . . .” (Ephesians 2:4-6)

Are current world or even personal circumstances attempting to rob you of your joy? Is the enemy trying to defeat you through health or financial problems, or despair over the state of your nations? Remind yourself that true joy is found in the Lord and His promises. Read and memorize scripture verses that remind you who you are in Christ (Ephesians is a good place to start). Begin each day affirming that you will rejoice in the victory of the King of kings, and Lord of lords; for your King is the highest and greatest of all!

Father, You make us victorious over the world and all its influence when we remain centered in Your will. Help us to know the joy of Your victory as we go through each day!
